[Tech] iPhone 5 Sells Out In An Hour, Shipping Pushed To Sept. 28th

Not coming as a surprise to many; iPhone pre-orders which started at 3am EST were sold out within an hour. Wouldn't you think Apple would prepare for something like this? I mean does this have to go down for EVERY SINGLE iPhone release? Or is it something they want? Just to show and prove how needed this device is? Either way if you were one of those people to get your order in after 2AM on Friday morning expect your device to arrive AFTER the original Sept. 21st ship date. Keep Reading for official statement from Redmondpie.

The iPhone 5, which was finally unveiled to the world by Apple on Wednesday, has already spent its pre-order quota for the September 21st launch date. Many consumers around the world set alarms and made allowances just to be able to log in and secure their pre-order, but for those who missed out, it looks like you’re going to have to join the legions of others in queuing outside the store.

We’re used to seeing a significant gathering outside a store for a big tech release – Call of Duty is a prime example of a title drawing many gamers from their couches at ridiculous times and in all weathers. However, nothing quite gets the punters going like an iPhone release, and with many prepared to go without other, arguably more important things just to grab themselves an iPhone, I’m guessing the majority will be unfazed by the hour upon hour of queuing that lies ahead. There’s invariably something wrong with the initial release of anything (be it software or hardware related), so I shall – like many others – sit idly by and allow the early adopters to get first dibs. Will you be heading to your local Apple Store on 21st?
