[Tech] iPad 3 Production Now in Full Swing
Production of the third-generation iPad is now underway, according to a new report from DigiTimes.
The trusted far east publication indicated Thursday that Apple has tapered back its fourth-quarter orders for iPad 2 display panels in order to accommodate the full breadth of labor and component resources the iPad 3 production and assembly will require. Keep Reading For More.
"While Apple is adjusting panel inventory for iPad 2," the report reads, "Samsung and Sharp already began shipping panels for the next-generation iPads to Apple in October, and Taiwan-based touch panel makers TPK Holding and Wintek will begin to ship touch panels for the new iPads to the supply chain in November-December, the sources noted."
If the latest reports are accurate, iPad 3 production is now ramping up and will continue at a break-neck pace through the end of 2011.
But despite the jump start that the iPad 3 is seeing, don't expect to actually get your hands on a third-generation iPad any time soon. Obviously, Apple hasn't announced a timeframe for the next-gen tablet's release, but most industry insiders believe we will see nothing before March 2012. Source: ModMyI
