It appears that even in retirement that Shaq is going to be making some interesting sound bites. Shaq appeared on HDTV’s Inside the MMA show. While on the show, Shaq was asked which players in the NBA that he would like to get in the cage with. His answer was both diplomatic and entertaining. Shaq did not want to talk about current players stated that he was from a different era. However, I am still shocked Chris Bosh did not make the list given the recent history of bad blood between the two. His list began with former Knicks tough guy Charles Oakley. He then named new TNT coworker Charles Barkley.
Former Laker teammate Karl Malone was next on the list. The list then took on a Celtics flavor. Shaq’s list included former Celtic tough guy Xavier McDaniel. The X man was a tough solid player for Boston during the down years. Last on the list was a surprise. Danny Ainge was put on the list because Danny almost bit off his former Magic teammate Tree Rollins finger.
The bottom line is Shaq may be retired, but he is not going away. One can plan on at least getting to enjoy the man’s larger than life persona.
