[Sports] NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs (Bruins Edition)

Better late than never right? UPDATE: Bruins suffer Game 1 Loss at home.

So we meet again. Another chapter in the historic rivalry between the Bruins and Canadiens. Last time the Bruins matched up against the Canadiens was on March 24th. That game was supposedly going to be a redemption game for the Canadiens after the previous game saw Bruins defenseman Zedano Chara deliver a hit to Max Pacioretty that made him time travel. Unfortunately for Montreal fans, and for fans of face-punching everywhere, the Canadiens didn’t want any action from the B’s that night and came out flopping around like a bunch of used dildos. That win for the Bruins ended up being the final blow that eventually propelled Boston to the Northeast division title and inevitably home ice in round one.

Facts:
• Regular Season series- Canadiens won, 4-2-0
• This is the 33rd playoff series between the two teams (Montreal has 24-8 lead)
• Both teams are original six franchises.

What to expect:

Things are different this year. Boston fans were heartbroken at the end of the Bruins playoff run last year. We all know what happened. Tuukka time was in full effect at this time a season ago but….now its Timmy time! Casey Price will be in net for the Canadiens and has a rough career in the playoffs (5-11 overall). Tim Thomas is the lead for the Vezina Trophy (awarded to the best goaltender in the regular season) with a 35-11-9 record this season and is ready to spread his legs like a porn star to block all “money” shots. I’m interested to see what forwards David Krecji and Nathan Horton bring to the Bruins this postseason as well. Last year the Bruins lost Krecji in Game 3 against the flyers and proceeded to lose every game after that. Was he really that much of an impact player? Did the Bruins just run out of gas? Are any of you going to answer my fucking questions? Horton on the other hand was traded for in the offseason for Dennis Wideman. You probably don’t know who Dennis Wideman is, which tells you how great of a trade that was. Horton, meanwhile, apparently just needed a “new situation”. Horton chipped in with 26 regular season goals so hopefully he can play at a high level this postseason and put Boston over the edge and into the Eastern Conference Finals.

Overall I think the Bruins will win in 6. The Canadiens won the season series and are skilled, but the Bruins are too tough. I actually think we may have another blow out in Game 6 once the Canadiens cash their chips in. And since this wasn’t posted until after Game 1, I think the Canadiens will take the early 1-0 series lead, then lose four of the next five in some order.
